Renovation of the TK les TEPPES in Les Menuires to improve reliability, safety and energy efficiency

Rénovation électrique_Tk des Teppes_Les Menuires

BACKGROUND

Variations in the weather, including a lack of natural snow and higher temperatures, can affect the ski season, reducing the duration and quality of natural snow cover. This can lead to revenue losses for ski resorts that depend on favourable weather conditions.

As a result, most resorts are taking a number of steps to minimise their impact on the environment. The actions taken are many and varied. More efficient waste management is part of the picture, as is reducing energy consumption.

Modern electrical and power cabinets often incorporate new equipment and more energy-efficient technologies.

The obsolete TK at Les Teppes in Les Menuires dates back to the 1990s. It was against this backdrop that our customer SEVABEL entrusted us with the renovation of its control system.

Refurbishments generally make it possible to increase the reliability of installations by reducing the risk of breakdowns, improving the safety of operators and users, and simplifying maintenance operations while reducing costs by taking action more quickly.

OUR SCOPE

Up to date!

In order to improve the reliability of the Teppes ski lift, located at the top of the Les Menuires ski area, our customer SEVABEL asked us to improve the control system of this strategic installation, as it provides the link with Méribel.

On the electrical side, we designed and manufactured the cabinets. In order to adapt to the customer’s needs, we kept the existing starting system consisting of a set of rotor resistors.

For the industrial automation part, we developed the entire PLC programme based on IESA standards dedicated to ski lifts, enabling the operator to standardise the interfaces of its various TK devices. This strategy represents a real comfort for maintenance operators.

We had our entire design checked by a CTI (APAVE), who validated both our electrical diagrams and our software quality plan.

Finally, we took delivery of the entire site with the STRMTG organisation in Savoie to validate that the installation was ready for use.

CONCLUSION

We’d like to thank everyone involved in this project, which took twelve weeks to complete! We’re always delighted to work with our loyal customer SEVABEL, and we’d like to thank them for their confidence in us on this project.

PROJECT PLUS POINTS

– TK standardisation

– Adaptation to customer requirements while preserving the rotor resistor clearance
